How to Wear a Scarf

There is no right or wrong way to wear a scarf.

But there are a million of them!

You will find plenty of ideas on the internet if you go hunting, but most of us settle on a couple of favourites and tend to stick with them.
Here are a few of my favourite ways to wear or tie a scarf.

LONG SCARVES

BARCELONA

Drape the scarf around your neck looping it once. Tie a knot close to the loop. Position the knot under the loop and fluff the scarf to cover the knot.

BRAIDED KNOT

Fold the scarf in half and drape it around your neck. Thread the ends through the loop. Twist the loop creating a second loop. Thread the ends back through the new loop and adjust.

COWL

Wrap the scarf around your neck 1.5 times ensuring you have one long end & one short end. Take the inside corner of the long end, bring it up & tuck it into the outer loop around your neck.

CROSSOVER

Drape the scarf around your neck with a loose loop. Flip the loop over forming a cross with a small loop at the bottom. Thread both ends through the loop from underneath & adjust.

EUROPEAN LOOP

Fold the scarf in half and drape it around your neck. Thread the ends through the loop. Centre it and adjust.

FRENCH LOOP

Fold the scarf in half and drape it around your neck. Thread one end through the loop going under, then over. Thread the other end through the loop going over and then under.

NEW YORKER

 Drape the scarf around your neck with a loose loop. Flip the loop over forming a cross & a small loop at the bottom. Thread both ends through the loop from the top & adjust.

SARONG WRAP
Place the center of the scarf across your chest. Wrap it around your back crossing over & then bringing the ends to the front. Take a section of the scarf from each end & knot.

TWIST

Drape the scarf around your neck looping it once. Take the ends and twist them around the loop, going over and under. Keep twisting as many times as you wish. The shorter ends can be arranged at the front, side or back.

SQUARE SCARVES

HINT: If you fold your larger square scarves by folding the diagonal corners into the middle over & over, you will get a long scarf that you can wear all the long scarf ways above.

COWBOY CHIC

Fold the scarf into a triangle. Thread one corner through a ring, an elasticised bracelet or even a hair scrunchie. Tie at the back of your neck.

KIMONO

Fold the scarf in half. Tie the corners together with a small knot. Drape the centre of one side over your shoulders and put your arms through the holes created by the knots.

LOOP & KNOT

Fold the scarf into a triangle. Keep folding from the point towards the fold until you have a long thin shape. Drape the scarf around your neck. Loop once and tie in a loose knot. Leave the knot exposed or tuck it up under the loop like the Barcelona.
